“Atta ha-way chi-tang sei-yo” = Self-conquest is far greater than the conquest of all other folk
"Chi-na" refers to a person who conquers his/her own desires. The ability to overcome oneself involves the control of behavior—whether it be physical, verbal, or mental. Keofar Kesornsook captures the essence of Buddhism through his contemporary art, featuring a collection of over ten ceramic sets. This series embodies the realization and awareness of human emotions and desires, encouraging viewers to reflect and reminding them to be conscious with every breath they take.
Keofar Kesornsook is an experienced ceramic sculptor who graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute. His passion for this art style motivated him to further a master’s degree at Arizona State University. He was then selected as an artist resident at Archie Bray Foundation in the USA. During his studies, he had the opportunity to work with world-renowned ceramic artists such as Ken Ferguson, George Timock, Victor Babu, Carry Esser, Kurt Weiser, Randy Schmitz, and Richard T. Notkin. These artists shaped and inspired him to share his knowledge and help develop Thai artists to match their international counterparts. Currently, Keofar Kesornsook teaches ceramic arts at GumBie Studio, Chiang Rai. His classes focus on pottery and ceramics, while his studio serves as an art lab that encourages new creations and experimentation.
