Sometimes I Wanna Be

ARDEL Gallery of Modern Art
(Boromrachachonnanee Road)

"Just for the sake of enjoyment, I sometimes think that I'd like to be something else rather than myself. What would it feel like if we had wings and could fly like birds in the sky, live in the wild as predators like tigers or swim around freely in the sea as sea creatures? It'd be unbelievably exciting."

"Sometimes I Wanna Be" is the latest exhibition by Kattliya Phantodee or "Namzoda". Her art consists of simplicity and sincerity, the charm usually seen in woodcut prints. This series portrays the artist's surreal imagination of wanting to be "something else" besides humans, for example, a bird in the sky, a predator like a tiger in the vast jungle, or a tiny fish that swims carefree in the waters. The artist conveys the idea through an image of a "cat" that both represents her identity and implies the naughty and playful traits that allow the audience to exercise their endless imaginative side together.
